Bridesmaid on a Budget

Bridesmaid on a Budget

Bridesmaids today face an average expense of more than $3,000 when they accept the invitation to be in a bridal party. Add in the cost of travel and lodging-which is increasingly becoming necessary, with the growing popularity of destination weddings-and that $3,000 climbs to an even higher price tag. It’s hard to say no when a friend asks you to be a part of their wedding, but in this economy, most bridesmaids just don’t have the money to participate-not without ending up with a handful of maxed-out credit cards and a whole lot of resentment, anyway. In Bridesmaid on a Budget, Sharon Naylor-the author of multiple best-selling budgeting books for brides-offers women advice on how to beat the system. Naylor gives tips on where to find the best, most affordable dresses and accessories; planning fantastic (but low-cost) showers and bachelorette parties; giving a great wedding gift without emptying your pocketbook; minimizing the extra expenses of a destination wedding; and more. For the almost 10 million women per year who become one, Bridesmaid on a Budget is an indispensable guide to being a brilliant bridesmaid-without breaking the bank.

Bridal Shower Gifts On A Budget

Do you invite people who do not know your own wedding?

Me and my boyfriend are getting married in 5 months. We are keeping the guest list to 100 and have a very strict budget, as his family can not contribute, since I can not really afford. So we split our 50/50 guest list, she has a very small family so his list is only about 30-40. I instead have a big family. so do the rest. I guess my situation is that her mother wants to invite a family of four people who neither she nor I have ever met. But we are strict budget, if the list increases, the price of the cake, take gifts home and everything else rises. We both agree that we should not invite them, but his mother only is giving us a hard time making it very hard for my boyfriend. And this is a woman who was angry because she was not the person to confirm their attendance at the bridal shower. UGG HELP!

I think it's okay for people (even those who do not know) to get to their wedding, but it is up to you who is allowed to go to her reception. I also believe that the people who pay for the reception (The two of you) are the only ones who should have a say in who attends. Let your mother know that you appreciate their loving others to celebrate her special day, but you're on a tight budget. If she wants to chip in any additional funds, then there would be no problem but the rest of budget simply does not. Remember, this is your wedding. Do not let others dictate what you want. Good luck and congratulations to you and your bride-to-be.
