Over its eighty-year history, country music has evolved from little-known local talents to multimillion-dollar superstar musicians. In the 1920s, the first country music was broadcast from WSB radio in Atlanta and WBAP in Fort Worth, and the first records were recorded for Victor. In the 1930s, the first singing cowboys, among them Gene Autry and Roy Rogers, became film stars. After the war years, recordings boomed, and the Country Music Association was founded in 1958. Country music programs began on television with Porter Waggoner''s program in 1960, followed by The Johnny Cash Show and Hee Haw. The Nashville Network channel was established in 1993, and from then on, the popular stars of country music have continued to break records, selling millions of copies of their albums. This book examines country music as it developed in regions throughout the United States, noting characteristics of its various subgenres such as bluegrass, honkytonk, and neotraditional music. It provides an indepth look at the people and events that have shaped the industry, and identifies the landmark recordings that old and new fans alike will want to add to their collections. Provides a detailed history of the following subgenres: hillbilly music, cowboy music, western swing, country rock, bluegrass, Nashville sound, and neotraditional, among others. Includes a chronology of country music and an extensive chapter of biographical sketches of all the major songwriters, musicians, and people in the industry.

Modern Sounds In Country And Western Music

Modern Sounds In Country And Western Music

Having already experimented with blues fusion with gospel and jazz influences during his time with Atlantic, Ray Charles was keen to further expand musically when he switched labels to ABC Paramount. He enjoyed success with Georgia On My Mind and Hit The Road Jack, then announced to initially bemused executives at ABC that for his next album project, he wanted to do an album of country standards. …

Modern Sounds In Country And Western Music Vols 1 & 2 Plus Bonus Tracks [ORIGINAL RECORDINGS REMASTERED]

Merging the sounds of 1950s R&B with the power of gospel vocals may have been conceived by some as the devils work, but as we all know, Ray forged quite a career out of it and became a pioneer and a major influence by devising a whole new form of black pop music. Bangladesh Garment Sales Soar Despite Deadly Incidents (Huffington post)

DHAKA (Reuters) – Bangladesh’s exports rose 16.3 percent in June to $2.7
billion on the year, boosted by stronger clothing sales, an export body said
on Tuesday, as the low-cost country retains its allure for cost-crunching
global retailers despite deadly incidents.

Duty-free access to Western markets and low wages have helped make Bangladesh
the world’s second-largest apparel exporter after China, with 60 percent of
clothes going to Europe and 23 percent to the United States.

Garment exports totaled $21.5 billion for the financial year that ended in
June 2013, up 13 percent from a year earlier, according to Bangladesh’s Export
Promotion Bureau. Total exports rose 11 percent to more than $27 billion in
the fiscal year, but were nearly $1 billion short of the target.

Country Western

Does anyone know any good conservative country & western singers?

Anyone know any good southern country & western singers. Preferably conservative. I only say this myself as I am right wing not left wing and would rather listen to a decent country & western singer who isn’t a lily-livered liberal hippie.
Thanks LE and Steph. I am English myself but love american deep south country music, I did think that most country singers were conservative/republican too but I just wanted to know which ones are well known singers so I can get some more stuff to listen to!

Thanks

Actaully, the majority of coutry singers are republincan. The only democrats I can think of off the top of my head are Tim and Faith but they are not radical liberals. Josh Turner and King George are two conservative singers both on and off stage.
