Can Hens Give Milk?

Can Hens Give Milk?

Tova lives with her family on a small farm in the famous town of Chelm, a mythical village populated, according to Jewish folklore, by fools. Tova''s farm has hens and even a rooster, but no cow. Her mother, Rivka, wishes they could afford to buy a cow, so they could have fresh milk and butter every day. One night Tova''s father has a dream about how to get milk without actually owning a cow. He asks Tova to help him find a way to get milk from their hens, and the results are hilarious. Finally, to the family''s joy and the hens'' relief, the problem is solved by none other than the wise Rabbi of Chelm himself, and a little extra help from Tova.

Hens For Friends

Hens For Friends

Hens are smart, savvy, and like to cuddle, as Aaron describes in this picture book about his relationship with his best friend, a Rhode Island Red hen he names Margaret.

Award-winning artist Amelia Hansen''s delightful illustrations and author Sandy De Lisle''s charming text engage young readers with the full range of responsibilities and joys of raising backyard hens. Aaron tells the story of how his family interacts with their six adopted hens, not just in chores like keeping the chicken coop clean, but playing with, petting the hens, and tucking them in at night. When their mother bakes a birthday cake for his brother, Aaron makes sure that the eggs come from Margaret.

Young readers learn that hens recognize people they''ve met, can tell time and solve problems, as well as learning that hens require ongoing care after they stop laying eggs. The final page of the book lists additional resources for adults.

Sandy De Lisle is making her debut as a children''s picture book author. Sandy has worked as a public school teacher and currently as senior manager of content development for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

Amelia Hansen is the award-winning illustrator ofIt''s Raining Cats and Cats!,Are You Ready for Me?,It''s Raining Pups and Dogs andAt the Dog Park with Sam and Lucy, all Gryphon Press titles, as well as nineteen other books exploring the connections between people, animals, and the earth.

100 Ways for a Chicken to Train its Human

100 Ways for a Chicken to Train its Human

From Fowl Play to Hen-tertainment, in this hilarious collection by Diane Parker the chickens show us who are really in charge, and what they’re really plotting inside their coops! Don’t worry about the morning after the night before. Unmade nests, broken eggs and scattered food -your human will not even notice the difference and they always have spare time to clean up after you. Free range means you have the right to roam. However you choose to do it, escape on a regular basis and refuse to return until you are ready. Try to tip your food hopper up so all the corn spills. That way your human will have to refill it on a more regular basis.

2 Under the Bridge

2 Under the Bridge

Whatever Touches Your Life 1983 By James Richard Langston Listen. hear the cricket, In the softness of the night, Stand quietly by a meadow, See the birds taking flight. Hear the whisper of a breeze, Blowing through trees of pine, Let whatever touches your life, Be in tune to touching mine. Touch the velvet of a rose, On an early summer’s day, Smell the sweet aroma, Of a field of new mown hay. Throw caution to the wild wind, Play it loose just one time, Let whatever touches your life, Be in tune to touching mine. Blink your eyes at the sun, As it sets behind the hill, Skip a rock across the pond, By the old rustic mill. Cheer your team on to victory, As it comes from behind. Let whatever touches your life, Be in tune to touching mine. Taste a frosty snowflake, As it falls upon your tongue, See a mother hen fret, As she hovers o’er her young. Stay in tune with mother nature, Give her reason, give her rhyme, Let whatever touches your life, Be in tune to touching mine.

Hens Night

Has anyone had a hens night in Airlie Beach?

I'm trying to organize a hen night in Airlie Beach anyone had a queensland.has here and if so how it went and what did you do?

I have not had a hen night in Airlie Beach, but have been there to explore the nightlife. Not a bad place, but it is very busy at night with all the tourists, etc. We ate out at one of the restaurant was pretty good and went to the lake or pool complex. Just make sure if you have a chicken should not have to walk some of the hills to get home!
