Blizzard

Blizzard

Blizzard is based on John Rocco’s childhood experience during the now infamous Blizzard of 1978, which brought fifty-three inches of snow to his town in Rhode Island. Told with a brief text and dynamic illustrations, the book opens with a boy’s excitement upon seeing the first snowflake fall outside his classroom window. It ends with the neighborhood’s immense relief upon seeing the first snowplow break through on their street. In between the boy watches his familiar landscape transform into something alien, and readers watch him transform into a hero who puts the needs of others first. John uses an increasing amount of white space in his playful images, which include a gatefold spread of the boy’s expedition to the store. This book about the wonder of a winter storm is as delicious as a mug of hot cocoa by the fire on a snowy day. Praise for Super Hair-o and the Barber of Doom”With a light, humorous touch, Rocco reveals that sometimes the Kryptonite is all in your head.”-Publishers Weekly”Bold, colorful pen-and-ink illustrations burst with power from each spread in comic-book style. This story will make a feel-good impression on budding comic book/superhero fans.”-School Library JournalPraise for Blackout”The plot line, conveyed with just a few sentences, is simple enough, but the dramatic illustrations illuminate the story. Not all young readers will have experienced a blackout, but this engaging snapshot could easily have them wishing for one.”-Kirkus Reviews (starred review)”The colorful pictures work beautifully with the book’s design. Rocco uses comic-strip panels and a brief text to convey the atmosphere of a lively and almost magical urban landscape. Great bedtime reading for a soft summer night.”-School Library Journal (starred review)

Blizzard Games

Blizzard Games

Rescued from her car that she drove into a ditch in a blinding snowstorm by two strange men, Cindy learns they are both gamblers. They are also hot. As the blizzard rages, she decides to reward them with a game of her own devising. It takes her down erotic roads she’s never traveled before, having hot and hard sex with both men. ~ Excerpt ~ The last thing she remembered was that everything had gone white. The snowstorm had come in fast covering the asphalt. Joanne didn’t know the road and went straight when the road curved to the left. Her car went into the ditch. She sat in it letting the heater keep her alive until it ran out of gas. By then the windows were nearly covered. She couldn’t see a damn thing. It didn’t take long for the car to get cold. Her coat was nice but not all that warm. She’d bought it more for the way it looked than its functionality. And now she grew numb. She’d taken a shot and it looked like she’d lost. Complaining didn’t seem right. She was a gambler and you didn’t win them all no matter how good you were. When the odds went against you, well your luck had just turned bad. There wasn’t much more to say about it. The snow was still falling, the snowflakes big and sticky, so that they covered the windows and made everything white. And now she remembered only that. She’d been too damned cold to even remember the cold. She’d read once that when things were too massive to comprehend, you just remembered them in an abstract way. Like the brain couldn’t even really get wrapped around the reality of a million dollars and stuck to ideas about what it meant, rather than the thing itself. The cold was like that. She knew she’d been cold but you couldn’t remember something like that. Besides, the white was visual. And she wasn’t cold. She wondered if she was dead. If she was, it was disappointing. You kind of expected death to be very good or extremely bad. This was more like lying on a bed, under quilts. Lying naked on a bed under quilts. Ali

White Snowflake

If i `m black and white calls me a redneck, snowflake or something …?

I can sweat him / her for racial discrimination?

Yes, but be careful, he might try countersued, saying that only reason that he is sueing him racially discriminate. You could always make the argument that a white guy called a redneck, etc, and you did not respond the same way, because it was like you. Be careful. This country has a bit of a problem with giving everyone a stand on this issue. Just because you're white does not mean we should ignore the discrimination that gives us a very different race, right? I do not think so. Should have the right to equality to everyone else. Times have changed, yes, but instead of match races that have changed sides.
